Dental sealants have been in use since the 1970s, and many studies since that time have shown they are effective. A single application can last for years. They aren’t permanent, but can be re-applied. Sealants are not, however, a substitute for brushing and flossing. And you’ll still need to protect your teeth with fluoride.
